Natural Cosmetics

#Japan#Culture

Finally, I gave up making a hand-made cosmetic and bought natural cosmetics through the Internet. I was looking for a chipper and good lotion and I remembered that my friend was making a lotion by herself. According to her, it was not only economical but also good for the skin. I felt that this was a good idea and I decided to make a lotion. However, I didn't know how to make a hand-made lotion, so I googled it.

Almost all the websites say that it is easy to make a lotion, but we need to prepare some purified water and glycerin, and also essential oil if you want to make it. I went to a drugstore to buy them at once. I found some purified water and glycerin and made a lotion once I came back  home. It was so easy that I could make my lotion in 5 mins.

After making the lotion, I checked some home pages about hand-made cosmetics and I felt that it might affect my skin, because I didn't use a vegetable glycerin and scald tools. This might not be big deals, but I finally decided to rely on the specialist of  cosmetics, which means I will rely on companies which produce cosmetics using natural ingredients, because after all it became troublesome to hand-make it. I found a company which makes cosmetics which are gentle on the skin. If you are interested in the products, more information is available at the homepage; http://www.ishizawa-lab.com/products/original.html

After all, a hand-made cosmetic lotion didn't suit me, because I might be lazy, and I feel that the cost might be much higher if I put some natural ingredients which are said to be good for the skin and for retaining skin moisture. I'll keep using the cosmetics and see how it goes for a while.

Kimono and Yukata

When I was talking with a friend living in the Philippines about Kimonos and Yukatas, she asked me why Kimonos are expensive. I’ve never thought about the reason, I just took it as read (thought it was always the case); however, I just googled it.

“Kimonos are made of silk and a Yukata is an informal Kimono made of cotton.”

I got it. Kimonos are made of silk and that’s why a Kimono is expensive.

During the summer season, we have a lot of summer festivals and firework displays everywhere in Japan. Some people might wear Yukaras, not only women but also men. Some young men seem to think that Yukatas are cool. Men’s Yukatas are much more simple than women’s Yukatas. I’ve hardly worn a Yukata recently, but I feel glad when I meet girls dressed in Yukatas.
